She has recounted her experiences with alcohol – not exactly the most glamorous – in Lagunas (Pepitas de calabaza), a confessional-style book, “an honest conversation with a good friend. One filled with compassion, humour and tears”, which was a success in the US when it was originally published in 2015 and in which he has tried to avoid a moralising tone: “I had no interest in telling anyone off for their drinking. People can drink or not, it’s their decision. My interest was in telling a true story about what happened to me”.
