Synopsis of Una lección de vida y muerte

Ruby is ten years old and lives in a village in English North Devon County called Limeburn, a place in the woods, sunk between the hill and the sea and close to another village, Clovelly. He lives with his mother, Alison, and his father, John, who’s unemployed.

A series of crimes terrorize the area. Two young women have been killed. The murderer, before killing them, had them call their parents so that they would hear the desperate cries of their daughters. In charge of the case is Calvin Bridge, a somewhat rookie cop, and Chief Inspector Kirsty King, a serial and professional woman. However, some men from Clovelly, including John Trick, decide to take the law into their own hands and go out into the streets every night on the hunt for the culprit. Ruby’s accompanying her father on these guards, so she can spend more time with him while they try to find the killer… unless he catches her first.
