Bernard Rudosfky

Architect, engineer and critic, Bernard Rudofsky (Moravia, 1905 – New York, 1988) is known for his early books, which address the familiar from an unconventional point of view, among them, Are Clothes Modern, The Kimono Mind and Behind the Picture Window. A Viennese by education, a New Yorker by choice, he was a controversial and socially engaged figure. A professor at Yale, MIT, Cooper-Hewitt and Waseda, among other institutions, he was a writer, designer, photographer and even a sociologist.
